Using Outlook Express, Outlook Express, or Thunderbird to Download
your mail there are 5 main components:

The name of the account and email address

The User ID and Password
-
The User ID will be the mailbox name plus the
domain name
Example: mary @yourdomain.com

The password is case sensitive for security, it
must contain at least 1 uppercase letter, one lowercase number,
and a number

The settings to download incoming mail (POP3)

The settings to send messages (SMTP)
-
SMTP server is mail.yourdomain.com
-
For security, use port 2525
-
Many ISP providers require you to send out your
messages thru them. If your ISP does not require this you will
use our settings as listed below

When you download messages, do you want to leave them
on the server or not?

To
configure Outlook
Express, Outlook or Thunderbird:
Follow the directions below
NOTE: Remember to replace the "yourdomain"
with the name of the domain you are getting mail for. |
| For Outlook Express: |
- Open Outlook Express
- Click Tools
- Accounts
- Highlight the Account you want to change
- Click Properties
- Click the Servers tab
- Set Incoming mail (Pop3): to mail.yourdomain.com
- If you are using us for outgoing mail
Set Outgoing mail (SMTP): to mail.yourdomain.com
- Incoming MailServer
- Enter the mailbox name including the @yourdomain.com
- Enter your password (Case Sensitive)
- Make sure 'Remember Password' is checked or you will have to enter
it all of the time
- When using us for Outgoing Mail
- Under Outgoing Mailserver
- Make sure 'My Server Required Authentication' is checked
and click settings for this checkbox and
click radio button to use same settings as my incoming mail
server
- Click Ok
- Click the Advanced Tab
- Under Outgoing mail (SMTP) Enter 2525
- If you want to download messages but leave a copy on the server
- Check 'Leave a copy of messages on Server'
When you are finished Click Ok the Properties tab will close, Click
close for the Internet Accounts window |
| For Microsoft Outlook: |
- Open Outlook
- Click 'Tools' (click
for an example)
- Click Email Accounts
- Logon Info
- User name is your email address user@yourdomain.com
- Password Remember this is case sensitive
- Check Remember Password
- Click More Settings
- Click the Outgoing Server Tab
- Check My Outgoing Server (SMTP requires authentication) (click
for an example)
- Click the radio button for Use Same settings as my incoming
server
- Click the Advanced tab
- Make sure the Outgoing server (SMTP): is set to 2525. (click
for an example)
This is not a normal default, we are using it for extra security
to avoid spam attacks on the server
- If you want to download messages but leave a copy on the server
- Under delivery, check 'Leave a copy of messages on Server'
When you are finished Click Ok, You can use the Test Account Settings
Button to check all is well with the world |
| For Thunderbird: |
- Click 'Tools'
- Click Account Settings
- Select the Server Settings
- Under the mail account to update set server name to mail.yourdomain.com
- If you want to download messages but leave a copy on the server
- Check 'Leave a copy of messages on Server'
- When Using our SMTP, not your ISP's
- To update SMTP, go to the bottom of the left column scrolling
menu and click SMTP settings
- Select the yourdomain.com SMTP settings to update
- Click edit
- Enter yourdomain name as Description
- For server name enter mail.yourdomain.com
- Port should be set to 2525
- Under Security and authentication
- Check User Name and Password
- Type in your email address user@yourdomain.com
- Click OK
